Why was my medical insurance billed for my visit instead of my VSP?
We can't bill medical insurance with a routine vision diagnosis. Likewise, we can't bill VSP with most medical diagnosis. Your diagnosis determines whether your medical or vision insurance is billed.
What's a 'refraction'?
A refraction is an important part of your exam. A refraction determines if your vision can be better corrected with spectacles or if your current spectacle prescription should be changed.
How long is my new prescription good for?
Your new prescription is good for 2 years from the date it was determined.
Will I get a copy of it?
Absolutely
Are you accepting new patients?
Yes, all of our doctors are accepting new patients.
How long will my eyes remain dilated after my exam?
It's different for everyone. The majority of patients remain dilated for up to 2 hours. Patients with light colored eyes can remain dilated for up to 6 hours.
Can I drive if my eyes are dilated?
We caution all of our patients to bring a driver with them if they are having a dilated exam.
Can you bill me for my copay?
It's our policy to collect all copay amounts on the day of service.
Will you call me before my next appointment, so I don't forget?
Yes. We call all patients the day before their appointment. We also send out postcard reminders if the appointment was made months in advance as well as a phone call the day before.
